A 25-year-old local resident turned to law enforcement officers in Zaporozhye with a statement about fraud. He said that a familiar person approached him on the street and asked for a telephone under the pretext of an urgent call. As soon as the gadget was in the hands of the defendant, he turned around and hurriedly left.

The victim described the criminal in detail and during the day, law enforcement officers identified and detained him. It turned out to be a 33-year-old local resident who had previously been convicted and is a drug addict. The man managed to sell the phone, and spent the money on his own needs. The amount of damage caused is estimated at UAH 5,700.
On this fact, investigators initiated criminal proceedings on the grounds of Part 1 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
For what he has done, the detainee will face a restriction of freedom for up to three years or a fine of 2,000 to 3,000 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens.
